Papal Bull

Description

A papal bull is an official letter or mandate issued by the Pope, and is named for the bulla, or lead seal, which traditionally accompanied such documents. Church officials, such as bishops, are required to comply with the bull, but the orders they contain vary. Some contain commissions or institutions, while others mandate particular actions or policies.
