Provision
Description
Provisions describe when people or property is provided to a party and, in turn, when it is resigned and returned. The Atlas of a Medieval Life collection has six subtypes: provision of benefice, commendation to the benefice, resignation of benefice, resignation, renunciation of claim and permission to accept prebend. Provisions relating to a benefice relate to the function of such offices within the church, including appointments to and resignations from certain benefices. Provisions and resignations go hand in hand, as a provision is a loan that ends with a resignation.
